This month, we're raising awareness about strokes, their causes, and their impact on individuals and families worldwide. Strokes can affect people of all ages and are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. However, there are a few simple actions you can take to reduce your risk of a stroke. Keeping active and eating a balanced diet are just two simple ways you can prevent a stroke from occuring. It's just as important to know the signs of a stroke, B.E F.A.S.T: ## **B**** - Balance** Loss of balance, headaches and/or dizziness ## **E**** - Eyes** Blurred or loss of vision. ## **F**** - Face** One sided drooping of the face ## **A - Arms** Weakness in arms and/or legs ## **S**** - Speech** Slurred or difficult speech ## T- Time Act fast! Time to call 999! Strokes occur approxiametely 152,000 times in a year, which is one every 3 minutes and 27 seconds, with 1.2 million survivors residing in the UK.
