**In partnership with Ocupa Occupational Therapy**

# **Helping you find the equipment that's actually right for you**

We've partnered with Ocupa Occupational Therapy so that every recommendation can start with an independent clinical picture — built around whoever will actually be using the equipment every day, not just a set of measurements.

**Not sure yet what you need?**

## **Start with an independent OT Report**

You don't need to already know what equipment you're after. If you'd simply like a clear, independent view of what would genuinely help, you can book an Ocupa OT Report on its own — no equipment purchase required. An Ocupa Occupational Therapist assesses the person who'll actually be using the equipment day to day, and produces a written report setting out what would help them most. From there, we can talk through the right product — but there's no obligation either way. The report costs £550, applied to your equipment package if you go ahead.

- Independent assessment by an Ocupa OT
- Assessment carried out at your home
- A written clinical report you keep either way
- Useful for charity or funding applications
- No obligation to purchase anything afterwards

**How the report works**

## **What Ocupa actually looks at — and how it leads to the right product**

The report isn't a form-filling exercise. It's built around the person who will use the equipment — their body, their home, their daily life — so that when a product is recommended, it's recommended for a reason.

**1**

### **Posture & physical presentation**

How the person sits, holds themselves, and moves — including any pressure areas, pain, or postural support needed.

**→ Shapes seating, cushioning & support specification**

**2**

### **Transfers & daily movement**

How they get from bed to chair, chair to toilet, in and out of a car — and how much assistance is realistically needed.

**→ Shapes transfer features & level of powered assistance**

**3**

### **Home & community environment**

Doorway widths, floor surfaces, steps, access to a vehicle, and how they'll actually get around day to day.

**→ Shapes size, drive-wheel type & manoeuvrability needs**

**4**

### **Goals & what matters to them**

Getting to the kitchen unaided, seeing friends, returning to a hobby — the things that actually motivate the right choice.

**→ Shapes which features are worth prioritising**

**5**

### **Condition & how needs may change**

Whether the underlying condition is stable, progressive, or improving — so the equipment still fits in a year's time, not just today.

**→ Shapes future-proofing & adjustability**

**6**

### **The people around them**

Family, carers, and anyone else who'll help with the equipment day to day — so it works for them too, not just the end user alone.

**→ Shapes attendant controls & ease of handling**

**Why we did this**

## **Getting the right equipment starts with understanding the person who'll use it**

Choosing mobility equipment isn't just about specifications — it's about whether it actually helps the end user do what they want to do. Get to the kitchen on their own. Get out to see friends. Feel confident again in their own home. That's why we brought Ocupa's Occupational Therapists into how we work. Their independent clinical view means the equipment ends up genuinely matched to that person's life — not just picked from a catalogue.

**One relationship, not two**

You talk to us. We bring Ocupa into the journey exactly where it's useful, and handle everything in between — so you're never juggling two separate services.

## **What Matters Most**

### **Understood in their own home**

Where it's helpful, the assessment happens where the end user lives — so the recommendation reflects reality, not a showroom guess.

### **Advice that's genuinely independent**

Ocupa's recommendations are based on the end user's needs, not on what we stock. That independence is what makes the report worth having.

### **No long waits to get started**

Where NHS or charity routes can take months, we can usually get things moving in a couple of weeks.

### **A clear next step, whatever happens**

Whether you buy from us, apply to a charity for funding, or just want clarity, you come away with a proper written record of the end user's needs.

**What this means for you**

## **The Benefits, In Plain Terms**

### **Independent advice**

### **Holistic assessment**

### **Greater confidence**

### **Better long-term outcomes**

### **Clear next steps**

**The journey to the right product**

## **From first call to the correct equipment, step by step**

Whether you come to us directly or you've been referred by a charity or funding organisation, this is how the report turns into the right product. We stay with you throughout — Ocupa's role is to bring independent clinical thinking in at exactly the right moment.

**1**

**Solent Mobility**

### **You get in touch**

By phone, online, in store, or through a charity referral — however you reach us, we start by listening to what's needed and who the equipment is actually for.

**2**

**Solent Mobility**

### **We work out if an OT Report would help**

Not everyone needs one — many customers are perfectly well served by our own advisors. Where needs are more complex, or you're applying for charity funding, we'll suggest bringing Ocupa in.

**3**

**Solent Mobility**

### **We arrange everything with Ocupa**

We refer the details across and book a joint visit at a time that suits you. You don't need to contact Ocupa yourself — we take care of it.

**4**

**Joint visit**

### **An assessment built around the end user**

An Ocupa OT and your Solent Mobility advisor visit together. The OT looks at posture, transfers, the home, and daily goals — while we bring equipment to try in that real environment.

**5**

**Ocupa**

### **The report — and the product it points to**

Ocupa provide an independent written report setting out their findings and recommendation. That recommendation is what guides the specific product we then help you choose.

**6**

**Solent Mobility**

### **We supply the right equipment, and stay in touch**

If you go ahead, we supply, configure and deliver the equipment the report pointed to, then come back about a month later to check everything's working well for the end user.

**Why you can trust the recommendation**

## **Two organisations, two independent roles**

One of the things we were most careful about when setting this up was keeping clinical advice and equipment supply properly separate. Ocupa's report is never influenced by what we sell — which is exactly why it's a reliable guide to the right product.

**Ocupa**

Independent clinical assessment & report, based on the end user's needs alone

**Solent Mobility**

Equipment expertise, technical configuration, supply & aftercare

**Together**

A report that leads directly to the correct product for the person using it

**⭐ Where this helps most**

## **Clinically Prescribed Powerchairs & Wheelchairs**

This is where the report makes the biggest difference to the end user's daily life — and it's the area most of our customers come to us for. A powerchair or wheelchair is relied on every day, so getting the right one matters more than almost any other product we supply. Ocupa's report considers the person's whole life, not just a set of measurements, so the chair we end up recommending is genuinely theirs.

### **Complex clinical needs**

Neurological conditions, spinal injury, stroke, progressive illness, or significant postural needs — the report ensures the chair supports the specific condition, not just body size.

### **Applying for charity or grant funding**

Charities like SSAFA and organisations such as Motability often need an independent OT report before they can process an application — and it speeds things up considerably when one is ready.

### **Everyday, full-time wheelchair use**

If the chair is how someone gets around at home, outdoors and in the community, getting the report right has a real, daily impact on their independence.

### **High-specification powerchairs**

Tilt, recline, elevating legrests, attendant controls — the report's clinical view of posture and function ensures these are specified correctly from day one.

### **Needs that have changed**

If the end user's situation has moved on since their last chair — or it was never quite right — the report identifies what's changed and what should be addressed now.

### **Wanting peace of mind**

Some customers simply want the reassurance of an independent clinical view before committing. The report gives the family and GP a clear record of the reasoning.

**Beyond powerchairs & wheelchairs**

## **The same report can guide you to other equipment too**

Powerchairs and wheelchairs are where this partnership helps most customers — but Ocupa's OTs can produce a report for any equipment we supply, from stairlifts to profiling beds to bathing aids, always with the same goal: making sure the end user gets the product that's actually right for them.

**Common questions**

## **Frequently Asked Questions**

<details>

<summary>Do I need a report to buy from you?</summary>

No — most customers choose equipment with our advisors' help without a formal OT Report. We'll suggest bringing Ocupa in where needs are more complex, or where an independent report would genuinely help point to the right product.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I book an OT Report without buying equipment?</summary>

Yes — you can book an Ocupa OT Report on its own, with no obligation to purchase anything afterwards. It costs £550, and if you do go on to buy equipment from us, that cost is deducted from your package.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can the report help with a charity or Motability application?</summary>

Yes — this is one of the most common reasons customers choose this route. An independent OT report is often exactly what funding bodies need, and having one ready usually speeds up the application considerably.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How long does the whole process take?</summary>

From your first call to a completed report is typically around two weeks — considerably faster than NHS wheelchair services or charity OT referrals, which can take three to six months.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is Ocupa's report really independent?</summary>

Completely. Ocupa is a separate Occupational Therapy practice, and their report is based on the end user's clinical needs alone — never on what we stock or sell. That's what makes it a genuinely reliable guide to the right product.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I get a report for equipment other than a wheelchair?</summary>

Yes — Ocupa can produce a report for any equipment we supply, including stairlifts, riser-recliners, profiling beds, hoists and bathing aids. Just ask us and we'll talk through whether it would help in your case.
