Yesterday, Monday 17th February 2025, was Random Acts of Kindness Day. It's celebrated every year on the 17th of February, encouraging people to show unsolicited kindness to others. There are many ways you can take part in Random Acts of Kindness Day such as complimenting someone you see, helping out a friend or relative, or donating to a charity. As long as it's random and kind, you can celebrate the day however you'd like!
We think that kindness should be celebrated every day! That's why we teamed up with our good friends at Home Instead to spread the love across our local communities. We made five hampers filled with exciting goodies and sweet treats to make someone smile every day of the week.
Our mission started in Fareham Shopping Centre, where our friends at Crafty Makery helped us find our first lucky recipient of our kindness hampers. We met Mr and Mrs Fleet, who were having a great day out with their grandchildren. We then made it to Gosport High Street, where Ben and Sue gave our second hamper away to Mr Reed!
On Wednesday, we visited Portchester to donate our third hamper to The Dementia Care Hub. The work they do for local residents with dementia is amazing. Our next stop was at Costa, on Thursday we joined Home Instead at one of their drop in mornings where we gave away our hamper to Joanne Breton.
The last kindness hamper was given away on Friday, at Solent Mobility Centre! With help from our Home Instead friends, we gave our final hamper to Bob and Maggie. We hope all the lucky recipients enjoyed all their lovely treats!
See below for all the smiley faces we met on our mission! It was great to work with our Home Instead friends, stay tuned as we'll be collaborating again soon.
