What does "selling on my behalf" mean?

Solent Mobility Centre manages the resale of your mobility equipment. We assess, prepare, advertise, and sell the item. You receive a percentage once it sells.

What equipment do you accept?

We may accept mobility scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs, hoists, and other mobility aids. All items are subject to inspection and approval.

How much will I receive?

You receive up to 40% of the final sale price, minus any applicable costs.

What costs may be deducted?

Costs may include servicing, safety checks, batteries, repairs, delivery, collection, or any other reasonable costs required to complete the sale.

Can you give a payment example?

If a scooter sells for £1,000, your share is £400. If £60 servicing and £100 batteries are required, you receive £240.

Who sets the sale price?

Solent Mobility Centre sets the sale price based on condition, age, and market demand.

What if the price needs to be reduced?

If necessary to complete a sale, prices may be reduced. Where possible, we will contact you first. If you are unreachable, our staff are authorised to proceed.

How long will it take to sell?

There is no guaranteed timeframe. Items in good condition generally sell more quickly.

What if the item does not sell?

We will discuss next steps with you, which may include a price reduction or return of the item.

When do I get paid?

Payment is made after the item has sold and cleared funds have been received.

Do I still own the item?

Yes. Ownership remains with you until the item is sold.

Terms & Conditions – Mobility Product Resale Service

These Terms & Conditions apply to customers who ask Solent Mobility Centre to sell mobility products on their behalf.

1. Service Overview

1.1. Solent Mobility Centre offers a resale service for used mobility equipment, including but not limited to mobility scooters, hoists, wheelchairs, and related mobility aids ("Products").

1.2. Products are sold on a resale-on-behalf basis. Ownership of the Product remains with the customer until the Product is sold.

2. Product Assessment & Acceptance

2.1. All Products are subject to inspection and approval by Solent Mobility Centre before acceptance.

2.2. Solent Mobility Centre reserves the right to refuse any Product that is, in its opinion, unsafe, uneconomical to repair, incomplete, or unlikely to resell.

2.3. Products in good working order and condition are more likely to be accepted and sold within a reasonable timeframe.

3. Pricing & Sale Value

3.1. The resale price is determined by Solent Mobility Centre based on market conditions, product condition, age, and demand.

3.2. Sale prices are not guaranteed and may be adjusted over time to achieve a successful sale.

4. Customer Payment

4.1. Customers will receive up to 40% of the final sale price, subject to deductions outlined in these Terms & Conditions.

4.2. Payment will only be made once the Product has been sold and cleared funds have been received by Solent Mobility Centre.

5. Deductions & Costs

5.1. The following costs may be deducted from the customer’s share of the sale proceeds:

  • Servicing or safety checks
  • Replacement parts, including batteries
  • Repairs required to make the Product saleable
  • Collection or delivery charges (including two-person collections where required)
  • Any other reasonable costs incurred to prepare or complete the sale

5.2. All deductions are taken from the customer’s 40% share and not from the full sale price.

6. Price Reduction & Sale Completion

6.1. If a Product does not sell at the initial advertised price, Solent Mobility Centre reserves the right to reduce the sale price to facilitate or complete a sale.

6.2. Where reasonably possible, we will attempt to contact the customer prior to any price reduction.

6.3. If the customer cannot be contacted within a reasonable timeframe, the customer authorises Solent Mobility Centre to reduce the sale price at its discretion.

6.4. The final customer payment will be calculated using the actual final sale price, minus all applicable deductions.

7. Unsold Products

7.1. If a Product remains unsold after a reasonable period, Solent Mobility Centre may:

  • Continue to offer the Product for sale at a reduced price
  • Arrange return of the Product to the customer (collection or delivery charges may apply)
  • Agree an alternative arrangement with the customer

7.2. Products not collected within an agreed timeframe may be subject to storage or disposal charges.

8. Customer Responsibilities

8.1. Customers confirm they are the legal owner of the Product and have the right to sell it.

8.2. Customers must disclose any known faults, damage, or safety concerns at the time of enquiry or collection.

8.3. Failure to disclose relevant information may impact the resale value or acceptance of the Product.

9. Liability

9.1. Solent Mobility Centre will take reasonable care of Products while in its possession.

9.2. Solent Mobility Centre accepts no liability for:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Mechanical failure due to age or prior use
  • Delays caused by market demand or resale conditions

9.3. Liability is limited to the customer’s share of the actual sale proceeds.

10. Data Protection

10.1. Personal data will be processed in accordance with Solent Mobility Centre’s Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.

11. Acceptance of Terms

11.1. By submitting an enquiry via our website, arranging collection, or leaving a Product with Solent Mobility Centre, customers confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
